Set on over 10ha of tropical grounds, the Sofitel Fiji resort offers beachfront access and is a mere 20 minutes from the recently renovated Nadi International Airport.

CHECK-IN

Greeted with a resounding “bula” from the concierge team as I arrived, I was soon whisked away on a golf buggy with my luggage to a luxury Beach Club Access room.   I was impressed by the tropical yet elegant styling of the room.

ROOM TYPE & AMENITIES

My ground-floor room (101) was located across from the exclusive Waitui Beach Club, an adults-only oasis.

The spacious room offered a king-size version of the famed Signature Sofitel MyBed, or as I like to call it, heaven in a mattress.  Anyone who relishes sleeping on a cloud will not be disappointed.

The separate bathroom and walk-in-robe are well-sized. There’s Nespresso coffee and tea, complimentary mineral water, a large LED TV complete with satellite channels and a home theatre system, but the stand-out was the deluxe Pure Fiji amenities.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Given my proximity to the Waitui Beach Club, I chose to do most of my dining there.

A selection of family-style tapas highlights the menu for both lunch and dinner, along with a selection of generously sized mains, celebrating Fiji’s fresh produce.

The Lagoon Restaurant offers traditional breakfast fare with interactive chef’s stations, but for those wanting a more subdued and relaxing breakfast, the Waitui Beach Club is recommended.

The added bonus of the Beach Club, is a table right on the beach, so you can gaze at the sparkling water as you take your sweet Fiji time working your way through the extensive breakfast offering.

TIP

Stunning swimming pool at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa

Even if you’re not staying in a Beach Club Access room, invest in a Day Experience Pass to Waitui Beach Club for FJD$99 per person. It’s the ideal place to lounge the day away without the hustle and bustle of the main lagoon pool, plus the rate includes one hour of free sunset cocktails from 5-6pm.

For further relaxation, indulge in a treatment at SO Spa. Each treatment room is positioned inside its own bure, complete with an open-air outdoor shower and Fijian styling. Guests also have access to a relaxation area overlooking the beach with a private pool and jacuzzi.

THE DETAILS

– The resort offers 296 rooms, each room has it’s own private balcony.
– Three restaurants and four bars.
– Adults only Waitui Beach Club
– Rooms start from AU$326 per night
